On March 5, 2025, a massive flower dome, measuring about four meters (13 feet) in height and nine meters (30 feet) in width, appeared at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya in Chiyoda-ku (Chiyoda ward), Tokyo!
This impressive flower dome is part of the “Hibiya Blossom 2025” event celebrating the arrival of spring.
Following last year’s theme of “Art & Flower,” this event is enlivening the streets of Hibiya with colorful floral decorations.
Experience the world of the movie Wicked inside a flower dome
The installation at Hibiya Step Plaza is the “Wicked presents Flower Dome,” inspired by the film Wicked which was released on March 7 in Japan.
It recreates the aesthetic world of the film using mainly green and pink—the signature colors of the protagonists: Elphaba, “Wicked Witch of the West,” and Glinda, “Glinda the Good.”
This outstanding dome is constructed of over 15,000 artificial flowers.
While they resemble real flowers, some of these artificial flowers contain recycled materials, such as PET bottles and recycled plastics, demonstrating an eco-friendly approach. Their vivid colors further amplify the atmosphere of the story.
When you step inside the dome, you’ll find yourself in a colorful world of flowers inspired by scenes from the movie!
Walking through the interior offers an immersive experience of being surrounded by flowers, quite different from the view outside.
The atmosphere transforms dramatically at night, creating a magical landscape. From 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the dome is illuminated, with special performances set to the movie’s songs “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” taking place every 10 minutes.
The light show highlights the green and pink color scheme, creating an atmosphere that differs from daytime!

To celebrate the 7th anniversary of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya’s opening on Saturday, March 29, the “Floral Gift” event will take place at the first-floor atrium entrance, where fresh flowers from events or exhibitions will be given away.
This initiative aims to create an opportunity to think about the environment by enjoying the flowers until the very end.
Other must-see photogenic spaces decorated with colorful flowers include the grand staircase area connected to the flower dome and the “Botanical Street” across Hibiya Nakadori!
