One of Uohama Roppongi’s selling points is the rich variety of its menu. “Whatever you want, whenever you visit,” is their motto.

In this article, we’ll introduce four noteworthy dishes particularly recommended by the Umami bites editorial team.

Packed with umami: “Rich Sea Urchin Ramen”

Rich Sea Urchin Ramen is a luxurious ramen bursting with the savory taste of sea urchin.

Bensky from the Umami bites editorial team had this to say about the dish:

Bensky

As the name suggests, it was truly rich in flavor! The presence of sea urchin was strong, combined with umami, making for an outstanding harmony.
The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the broth flowed smoothly, making it very satisfying to eat!

The noodles are the flat, medium-thick noodles from Asakusa Kaikarou, favored by many ramen shops. The broth uses plenty of sea urchin and includes Uohama Roppongi’s special soy sauce blend. A key point is the addition of milk, which softens the flavor.

The topping of finely chopped onion helps to refresh the rich aftertaste of the broth.

The bamboo shoots are thick and luxurious, and the chāshū (Japan’s version of char siu) is well-flavored, reflecting the restaurant’s attention to detail in every part of the dish.

Uohama Roppongi also features regional Japanese dishes, such as Hanton rice from Ishikawa Prefecture.

Hanton rice consists of rice flavored with ketchup and butter, topped with a semi-cooked thin omelet and fried items, then covered in ketchup and tartar sauce.

The sweetness of the butter softens the acidity of the ketchup. The semi-cooked thin omelet adds a smooth, creamy texture.

The uniqueness of Uohama Roppongi’s “Hanton Rice” lies in two aspects: the toppings include deep-fried shrimp and deep-fried swordfish, and it uses homemade tartar sauce.

The deep-fried shrimp were juicy and firm, and with the addition of deep-fried swordfish, there was plenty to eat!
The homemade tartar sauce, with its coarsely crushed texture, also made for a satisfying eating experience.

The joy of being able to enjoy regional gourmet specialties from all over Japan, even while in Tokyo, is precisely what makes Uohama Roppongi so special. You can experience a culinary journey across Japan!

Crab delights: terrific fried rice, tasty tomalley and more!

Uohama Roppongi is known for its high-quality ingredients shipped directly from the source, with seafood being a standout on the menu.

The dishes to try are the “Live Snow Crab with Tomalley” and the “Fried Rice with Crab and Lettuce.” The latter uses a generous amount of crab meat for a rich flavor.

The lettuce is briefly cooked to maintain its crunch, providing a textural contrast. The rice is stir-fried quickly on high heat, ensuring each ingredient melds perfectly in flavor and texture.

The rice seemed to be infused with the essence of crab, which was exquisite. Most importantly, the delicate flavor and texture of the crab were exceptional!

Snow Crab with Crab Tomalley uses both crab meat and tomalley for a dish rich in depth and creamy saltiness.

“ズワイ蟹の蟹味噌和え,” Snow Crab with Crab Tomalley 879 JPY (tax included)

The crab meat is tender and plump, enjoyable on its own but even better when eaten with the crab tomalley for a deeper flavor.

Uohama Roppongi also offers a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, including Japanese sake, making it a great pairing with their dishes.
